Gerd Gerhard Loeffler: @gowing down of europe: If we consider the Hippie-idea as the strongest in the western world I do not woder why europe is going down!
Gerd Gerhard Loeffler: @downfall of europe (again): Maybe the fact that capitalism bought the hippie-idea was the biggest mistake the hippies could ever make. They sold out their ideals, didn't they? @production: I'm not sure if production is the actual key to a society. In my opinion the eastern countries produced quite well. The stuff just worked. Try that with China's stuff...
Gerd Gerhard Loeffler: @ ALL* the rest of what you said: Gimme some stickers!
New Years day. Went to the sauna and this man from Irak all of a sudden gave me a herbal scrub. He said something about that his mother had kept these herbs the hole year in her garden in Irak but I was not sure if that was made up. Anyways - allthough I was a bit embarrassed (why?) - it did feel great and moodlifting and was kind of my New Years present.
Later I picked up 2 dear friends who came all the way from Bavaria. I made some dinner and then we went to Christiania through the Dyssen entrance. First we visited N. who just had finished an opulent meal with friends and we sat and talked quite sweet.
For the New Year we went to the Dyssen bridge and watched the fireworks. Funny to us was that the fireworks were going all night long - ofcourse more intense just around midnight. In Germany this happens with a ridiculous punctuality: You basically can set your watch according to the shootings. This one guy close to the bridge on the Dyssen side went a bit beserk though with all his firewhatevers...
We visited Galloperiet. There we recognized a few people who we had seen on this great movie ‚Christiania you have my heart’ on the Sofiagaden-imagery.
My friends thought the scene and people were cool and ‚sehr sympathisch’. B. and N. seemed happy to see me and N. complimented my articles. Seems almost that the more critical I write the more and better people react. Interesting.
We met A., a smart man who started a really fascinating discussion. He said he was glad that again the rightwing in Denmark won because now that Europe is going down fast the rights can be blamed. He says all is connected to the downfall of the US, and we fall a bit slower... Some causes for the downfall are the missing production (vs. China) and he mentioned a Karen Blixen quote about coffee: If the root is crocket the plant grows beautiful coffee flowers, but no coffee beans. The flowers could be seen as the arts, cultures... In his opinion the company Maersk has bonds and big time influence on Danish politics as well as the royals and even influences Denmark participation in Irak.
Then he spoke about Hippies as kind of the leading idea of the west – the idea of the west being identical with freedom. When the wall came down the first music played was rock. In A.’s opinion capitalsm has bought Hippies as a kind of brand. And since the wall came down the west shifts more towards the opposite, an almost Stasi-like control civil society...
A. said that 20 years ago the spirit in Christiania was fantastic. They had the feeling of ‚We want the world’... Now a true vision is missing. He is not so sure anymore if living in Denmark now is still the right choice. Now all is getting tighter and Christiania to him feels like the past.
Then we went back to the Opera and danced more. I put Urban Pilgrims sticker on A. as kind of a joke. After a while he came to me saying that he did have so much fun and attention and a lot of thumbs up just because of the sticker, someone even asked ‚urbanpilgrims, yeah, you are many, arent’t you?“ So I was quite amused and decided to trade stickers for a dance. It actually worked well.
And then I had this miraculous one-time-in-a-life experience: I could have picked up at least - at least - 10 different guys if I had wanted to. My friend had to even ‚save’ me a few times! And I have not the slightest idea why that was like that. Ok, I was in a good dancing mood but we had that before. I didn’t dress any special. I wasn’t ovulating. I don’t think I am badlooking but definitely I am not especially beautiful. 10 years ago I was much better looking and something comparable never had happened in my life. Is it because I had gone to the hairdresser in the afternoon and am now a bit more blond than before? Don’t think so, much more real Danish blonds around. Is it kind of Viking New Years tradition to be sexually extremely ‚social’? I hope it at least helped me to end my second phase of winter depression (see below).
